Buying a caravan
Some changes to consider when changing caravans
- What size are the wheels on your new caravan? Will your wheel clamp still fit?
- What hitch head has your new caravan got? Will your hitch lock fit?
- Will your new water pump fit into your existing water carrier?
- What diameter is your new waste pipe outlet?
- Remember, if you are purchasing a used caravan then keep your gas regulator.
Basic equipment needed when buying a new tourer
- Fresh water container
- Waste water container
- Gas bottle (butane or propane)
- Leisure battery
- Stabiliser (unless already fitted - e.g. AKS or Winterhoff)
- Wheel clamp and hitch lock (often the minimum requirements for caravan insurance)
Basic equipment needed when buying a used tourer
- As above plus...
- Mains lead
- Step
- Spare wheel & tyre
- Gas regulator and spanner
Don't forget your car!
- Towbar with (preferably twin) electrics
- Extension driving mirrors
